We managed to get our hands on the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 graphics card to test it out. In this AORUS Radeon RX 6800 Master review, we will be testing out the performance that the Aorus Radeon RX 6800 Master provides.
The Radeon RX 6800 supposedly provides roughly the same performance as an Nvidia RTX 3070, so it will definitely provide enough power to play games with a 1440p resolution. It also provides enough power to play some games smoothly in 4K resolution. This makes it a great entry-level 4K gaming graphics card.
Performance
Fortnite
We wanted to test out the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 and compare it with an Nvidia RTX 30 graphics card for this AORUS Radeon RX 6800 review. Unfortunately, with the GPU shortage right now, it was practically impossible to acquire both the cards. Instead, we’ll be benchmarking the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 on its own in various games. We have tested out the RX 6800 to see how it performs in some of the most popular games right now in multiple resolutions.
The AORUS RX 6800 completely annihilates Fortnite. Without a doubt, this GPU handles Fortnite extremely well in all resolutions, even 4K. When playing Fortnite in 4K and with all settings maxed out, the FPS never dipped below 99, and holds an average FPS of 144.
If you’re looking to play Fortnite on a competitive level, you’ll probably need to tweak some settings or lower the resolution to 1440p at least, to get a better FPS average.
AC Valhalla
AC Valhalla is one of the latest AAA titles at the time of writing, and the AORUS RX 6800 didn’t even flinch. When running the game in 1080p and 1440p resolutions, the game was running smoothly all the time.
What baffled us was that even at 4K resolution, the AORUS RX 6800 managed to run AC Valhalla smoothly. Running the game with the highest settings and 4K resolution, the game never dipped below 60FPS.
Cyberpunk 2077
Having a graphics card that handles Cyberpunk 2077 with the highest settings is close to impossible. But the game is actually playable on the AORUS RX 6800 in 1080p resolution.
Running the game in 1440p will result in less FPS, but it is still playable, with an average of 48FPS. However, running the game in 4K isn’t smooth at all. When running the game in 4K, it held an average of 18FPS and dipped to 16FPS at times.
An important thing to note is that the test was carried out with the highest graphic settings activated. After lowering some graphic settings, the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 was able to handle the game smoothly at 1440p.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Testing out Red Dead Redemption 2 was a blast. The AORUS Radeon RX 6800 handles the AAA game smoothly in almost all resolutions, with the highest possible settings.
When testing out the game in 1080p, the FPS never dipped below 75FPS and had an average of 83FPS. Switching the game to 1440p didn’t result in a lot of FPS loss. With a low of 68FPS, and an average of 72FPS, the AORUS RX 6800 handles Red Dead Redemption 2 in 1440p smoothly.
When switching to a 4K resolution, the FPS average took quite a hit. The average FPS in 4K resolution was 49FPS and it dipped to 46FPS at times. However, after adjusting some of the settings, the RX 6800 was able to run RDR2 in 4K resolution smoothly, with an average of 60FPS as well.

Design
The AORUS Radeon RX 6800 is a massive graphics card when it comes to size. With a length of 319mm (12.6″), a width of 140mm (5.5″), and a height of 70mm (2.8″), you should definitely check if this GPU fits in your case. Due to its massive height, this graphics card takes up 3 expansion slots when fitted horizontally.
Why is the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 so big?
Well, it all comes down to cooling. Cooling plays an extremely important part nowadays, and AORUS did not want to cheap out on cooling. With AORUS’ new advanced cooling technology, Maxed Covered Cooling, the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 is able to perform at its maximum performance while maintaining an extremely cool temperature and an extremely low level of noise. The low temperatures and low level of noise in this graphics card are truly remarkable.
Built-In LCD Screen
Along the edge of the graphics card is an LCD screen which can be used to monitor the temperature and usage of the GPU. Apart from displaying the GPU stats, the LCD screen can be customized to show literally whatever you want.
By default the Chibi Time mode is applied; this mode shows off a cute Chibi character which starts as a cracking egg and gradually grows when the GPU is used. Apart from the Chibi Time mode there are also Enthusiast Mode, Custom Text Mode, Custom Image, and Custom GIF Mode.
The Enthusiast Mode displays various GPU and VRAM status such as clock, usage, fan speed, and also temperature for real-time monitoring of the GPU. If you’re interested in monitoring these stats, you won’t have to rely on screen overlay software anymore.
As the name suggests, you’ll be able to display any text you want with the Custom Text Mode. Apart from choosing the text to display, you can also choose the color of the text.
Just like the Custom Text Mode, with the Custom Image Mode you’ll be able to display any image you want. Apart from the most popular jpg and png file types, this Mode also supports bmp.
The Custom GIF Mode is definitely one of the most entertaining modes of the LCD Screen. The Custom GIF Mode allows you to display any GIF you want! So if you want to display a GIF of your favourite game, or a GIF of your favourite series, you’ll be able to do so!
This LCD Screen definitely makes the AORUS Radeon RX 6800 one of the most customizable graphics cards.
