The MH670 is Cooler Master’s first wireless gaming headset, and they definitely did a great job with it. The Cooler Master MH670 is a lightweight, all-black, wireless headset that has all the features one needs to use it for gaming. Apart from that, since it does not have the typical gaming headset look, it will not be out of place if used at the office or while travelling.

Design

Even though the Cooler Master MH670 is an extremely lightweight headset, it still has a sturdy design that will not end up breaking on you in a couple of years. The head band has a stainless-steel core and covered with a leather foam cushion to make it comfortable. Size adjustments can be made by simply pulling or pushing the earcups to adjust the size of the headband. The MH670 has a comfortable and tight fit and will not fall off if you turn your head too quickly.

The ear cushions are made from PU leather and memory foam, resulting in an extremely comfortable headset which you could wear for hours on end. The ear cushions are completely removable. This means that if you do not like PU leather or if for some reason the PU leather gets damaged over time, you can easily replace the ear cushions.

As soon as you take this headset out of the box, you will immediately notice the great flexibility of the Cooler Master MH670. The headset can be bent in any direction without showing signs of breaking or creaking. The headset’s earcups also swivel in a 90-degree direction, making it comfortable to wear on your neck during breaks.

Features

All the needed controls can be found on the earcups. The volume wheel and mic button are on the left earcup, while the 7.1 virtual surround button and the power button are situated on the right earcup.

With all the dongles and adapters included with the headset, you can use this headset with almost any device. You can connect the headset wirelessly to your PC or console with the included 2.4 GHz USB Type A wireless dongle. Apart from that, the headset can also be connected via the included 3.5mm cable. If the headset is low on battery and you need to use it instantly, just connect the 3.5mm cable and you will be using it in no time.

Also, the 3.5mm auxiliary cable can be used to connect the headset with your phone if your phone has an auxiliary port. If your phone does not come with an auxiliary port, you can still connect the headset to your phone via the included USB Type A to Type C adapter included in the box. All you must do is plug in this adapter in your phone’s USB C port and plug the 2.4 GHz dongle in the adapter. This solution may be a little bulky, but it works flawlessly. Having said that, if your phone does not have an auxiliary port or a USB C port, there is no way to connect the Cooler Master MH670 headset to the phone.

Audio

The Cooler Master MH670 headset offers great booming sound in low end frequencies and super crisp sound in mid frequencies. With the virtual 7.1 surround sound everything sounds better, be it movies, music, and especially games. For a virtual 7.1 surround sound, the positional audio in games was remarkably accurate.

Tracking other player’s movements in FPS shooters such as Call of Duty and Fortnite was extremely easy and satisfying. With the 7.1 surround sound turned on, you will instantly know whether the enemies are upstairs, downstairs or even in the next room. Playing Minecraft and exploring caves with the Cooler Master MH670 was a whole new experience. Having said that, the virtual 7.1 surround sound is only available wireless.

The microphone’s quality is super crisp and is definitely one of the best microphones on a gaming headset. The microphone is great for chatting on Discord with your friends thanks to the superb quality it provides.

Range

When compared to other headsets, the range on the Cooler Master MH670 falls short. While other headsets offer a range of around 10 metres, this headset only offers a range of around 3 metres. This means that you won’t be able to keep chatting while away from your PC. Having said that, when using the headset in range, it provides no lag whatsoever on both input and output.

Battery

The battery of this headset is on another level. According to Cooler Master, the headset’s battery will provide you with 25 hours on a single charge, and they were definitely not lying. Using this headset every day, for both work and gaming, the headset managed to provide a full week of use. A full recharge only takes a couple of hours, and you will be able to use this headset for another whole week.

Software

The Cooler Master MH670 can be used without downloading Cooler Master’s MasterPlus Software. However, the installation of the software is super easy and comes with a user-friendly user interface. You can use the software to customize the sound of the headset in two types. A basic sound mixer and a surround-sound customization feature.

The Sound tab is essentially a basic sound mixer. This can be used to adjust the EQ levels based on what you are listening to. The sound mixer has three audio presets from which you can choose: Pop Music, Movie, and Gaming. Apart from that, you can also adjust the five individual frequencies to suit your needs and save them as a preset by adding a new profile. You can also use this tab to adjust the volume of both the sound and microphone.

You can use 7.1 Surround Sound tab to adjust the placement and distance of each individual surround speaker. The software also provides the possibility to set up several custom profile and switch between them.

Bottom Line

The Cooler Master MH670 is a great all-rounded headset. It provides super crisp audio and mic quality, while also providing a great battery life for the price of only $103.99 (at the time of writing).
